A Legacy of Support for His Community
Harold Corrigan liked to quote Teddy Roosevelt: “What a man does for himself dies with him. What he does for his community lives long after he is gone.”
Almost 20 years after his death, Mr. Corrigan continues to do for his community. The Harold Corrigan Fund he set up through his estate plan annually makes grants to improve the lives of school-age children and support the teachers who nurture them.
Harold Corrigan valued a healthy lifestyle, positive discipline, good sportsmanship, family, community, and looking out for one another. His fund at Community Foundation Tampa Bay perpetuates those values.
Among the programs that the Corrigan Fund supports:
- Leadership training for area principals and assistant principals.
- Hillsborough County Public Schools’ Summer Bridge Jumpstart program to keep kindergarteners and first and second graders on track.
- The Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports Room at Eisenhower Elementary.
With these and so many other gifts, he provided opportunities for others not just to survive, but to thrive.
